Since former studies on Zhanguoce are most likely on the part of speech act and textual research, it is known that there is no specialized research on the book’s persuasive technique.By virtue of this, this thesis, treating Zhanguoce as the research text and congregating many theories of persuasion, both ancient and modern, Chinese and foreign, proposes three categories, eight varieties, totally twenty one types of persuasive rules.Through this approach, this thesis aims to define and analyze the persuasive techniques in function and application, and advance to establish a persuasion system in Zhanguoce. In addition to establishing the system, this thesis also discusses the nature of Zhanguoce, introduces the evolution of ancient Chinese persuasive techniques, analyzes the characteristics of utilitarian persuasion during the Zhanguo epoch, generalizes the five persuasion subjects in Zhanguoce, studies tacticians’ preparation, and how they design words and circumstances before each persuasion.
