Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 建築學系碩博士班 === 98 === This research studies on the space of water utilization of Yami people who lived in Ivarinu. The Yami use water for drinking, cooking, sanitation and irrigation of taro farm. Despite of sanitation, Yami people take water from the resource which each patri-lineage family possessed. In the past, Yami people regarded that grey water is dirty, they used to urinate, defecate and taking bath near by water outdoor, therefore the Yami did not have sanitary utility indoor. Besides, the underground drainage of traditional Yami house was located at the same route as funeral road above ground level. It is obvious that water is not only a natural resource of Yami people for daily life, but its usage is also a rule of space definition of Yami society. Taro farm is property of Yami people, its irrigation system is possessed by each patri-lineage, in which consists of water resource(水渠)、wood slat(平水板)and Dovon. The design of Dovon developed in the period of Japanese Domination of Taiwan, its function is as a water container in taro farm mainly. There are PVC pipes imported from Taiwan after 1960s’, the new PVC material changed the behavior of water supply in Orchid Island, but each patri-lineage still keeps the water- right of its own. Dovon at taro farm in Ivarinu is good at water conservation, it is quite a vernacular wisdom of Yami people on water utilization.
