Based on signal propagation, different positioning techniques can be applied using time of arrival (TOA), angle of arrival (AOA) and received signal strength (RSS), if a wireless sensor network can be established. In this thesis, a wireless sensor network is established for indoor positioning utilizing the received signal strength technology. In the proposed system, a mobile vehicle is used in positioning for guidance through an established RF beacons from the wireless sensor network concept. From known beacon positions, the mobile vehicle can calculate the received signal strength from all beacons to determine its mobile position in real time. The theoretical support to system hardware and software design has accomplished the proposed system in preliminary. Methodology is verified with different scenario tests.
