Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 教育行政與管理學系 === 98 === Abstract This study investigated Internet usage behavior among senior-grade elementary school students and analyzed the association of various background variables with their Internet usage behavior. Based on the questionnaire survey method, the questionnaire “Survey on Internet Usage among Senior-Grade Elementary School Students” was administered to fifth and sixth-grade students in public elementary schools in Hualian City. A total of 320 valid responses were collected. Through regression analysis, the following results were obtained: 87% of the surveyed senior-grade elementary school students had Internet facility and access. Among various Internet activities, “online game” and “searching for information” were respectively the synchronous and asynchronous activities they most frequently used. “Computer viruses or malicious programs” were the traps they most frequently encountered, and “infection of computer viruses” was their main trouble. Significant differences in “motivation for using the Internet”, “purpose of using the Internet”, “synchronous activity”, and “asynchronous activity” were observed between sexes. Significant differences in “duration of each Internet usage”, “frequency of Internet usage”, and “first Internet usage” existed between different grades. Significant differences in “location of using the Internet”, “first Internet usage”, and “frequency of Internet usage” were found among students from schools of different scales. The students’ “duration of each Internet usage”, “total hours of Internet usage in a week”, “location of using the Internet”, and “first Internet usage” were significantly affected by parents’ attitude. The students’ “location of using the Internet” was significantly affected by their mother’s education, and the effect of their father’s education in this aspect was not significant. Based on the research conclusions, this study also proposed various suggestions as a reference for information education and future researchers.
