Despite through adequate lowering body temperature and aggressive treatment, the progression of this disease is still unsatisfactorily. Thus, it is important to find a new stratagy to recover the function of organ and to prolong the survival time of heat stroke rats. Heat shock protein 70 (Hsp 70) is functional as molecular chaperone in physiological conditions which is induced under stress in various condition; also Hsp 70 affords a defensive mechanism via anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptosis. YC-1 is a soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC) activator. Recent reports have shown that YC-1 can induce the Hsp 70 expression and prevent the oxidized LDL-mediated apoptosis in vascular smooth muscle cells. Thus, the aim of the present study was to evaluate the protective effect of YC-1 on heat stroke rats which was induced by heat incubator (42℃). Result suggest that YC-1 can significantly attenuated heatstroke-induced hyperthermia, arterial blood pressure and heart rate, liver and renal damage and prolong the survival time, these improving effects may be associated with the induction of Hsp 70.
