The development of fine arts in Taiwan is in a process of transition from agriculture to industrial and commercial economy in its policy direction; economical growth contributes to diverse cultural activities. New ideology of the West and cultural local movement are sequentially in progress; the framework of fine arts as a whole in Taiwan states the importance of social factors. The purpose of this study is to create the “Art‧Life‧Identity” series. Industrial development brings free and diverse cultures. When local and international ideologies meet in Taiwan, people are confused with different values, which create social disorders. Psychological problems are caused by interpersonal dissociation, social chaos and insecurity. In addition, new immigrants in Taiwan are affected by various cultures in recent years; therefore, traditional culture in Taiwan is facing the greatest challenge. Due to the decline of traditional culture, to preserve it somehow is contradictory to embracing Western foreign cultures; on the other hand, both are mutually affected. Rapid Westernization and quick decline of traditional culture have become the most urgent social problems in Taiwan. The author discusses Taiwan and the multicultural question by the creation. Based on the above background factors, the “Art‧Live‧Identity” series are therefore created. Watercolor, opaque watercolor, scrape arts and bottoming paint are used in the artworks; various presentations, such as traditional series, contradictory stage series, Western series, Eastern and Western contrast series, traditional decline series and fusion series are to exhibit diverse cultures in modern society and their influences to Taiwanese traditional culture. The cultural differences of Eastern and Western, in terms of food, clothing and living environment, generate different thoughts and related characteristics due to fusion and conflict of Eastern and Western cultures. 黃銘祝 2010 學位論文 ; thesis 51 zh-TW
