Description
Summary:碩士 === 南華大學 === 文學系碩士班 === 98 === Over three hundred years ago, Shen Guang-wen arrived at Taiwan from an unexpected trip, settled down here, and initiated the cultural opportunities for Han Chinese culture on the island of Taiwan. The classic literature of Taiwan thus began to develop. During the Ching Dynasty, the "official-traveling" literature dominated the literary circle of Taiwan, and the local literati began to stand out afterwards. At the end of the Ching Dynasty, due to the internal and external problems of the country, the traditional literati of Taiwan began to realize that literature should reflect the hardship of the local residents and promote the national spirit. During the Japanese Occupation Period, the poetry club culture in Taiwan developed to its peak time, which also led to the emergence of new literature of Taiwan. The literary researches in Taiwan during the recent years have become a popular trend, which is built on the previous construction and enrichment of regional databases. Taisi and Mailiao are at the border of Yunlin coastal area. There has been very little research on this area, ever since the late Ming Dynasty, thus, field investigation of this area is an urgent issue. The researcher grew up in Yunlin, in the neighboring township of Taisi and Mailiao, and thus is very familiar with the local sceneries, living environment, and cultural activities. The in-depth investigation on this area has discovered rich cultural assets, which have been long hidden from the public. This paper aims to comprehensively present the context of literary development in Taisi and Mailiao areas, and revive the magnificence of the local literati and their works. This is also the contribution of a native of Yunlin. This paper is divided into six chapters. Chapter 1 is the introduction, which describes the research motives, purposes, scope and method, and presents the results of literature review. Chapter 2 briefly describes Taisi''s and Mailiao''s geographic environment, history and literature by taking reference from local gazetteer and history books. Chapter 3 and 4 present the traditional literature development in Taisi and Mailiao region. Since there are more materials to cover in Taisi, Chapter 3 will discuss Taisi first about its development background of traditional literature, important poets and works. Chapter 4 discusses Mailiao''s development background of traditional literature, important poets and works, and analyzes the features of traditional literature at these two places and their relationship with the literature circle in Yunlin County as well as in Taiwan. Chapter 5 focuses on the study of the new post-war literature developed in Taisi and Mailiao region. This chapter first briefly describes the development of new literature in the region, the local important authors and their works with a summary of their features, and then discuss the relationship between new literature in Taisi and Mailiao region and the literature circle in Yunlin County as well as in Taiwan. Chapter 6 is the conclusion.
