Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄第一科技大學 === 行銷與流通管理所 === 98 === Taiwan forging industry has long been a vital player for the in Taiwan’s trade and economic development. Forging products can be applied to various things, from the mechanical parts to the small screw nuts, and even 3C parts, medical devices and other products. While more and more forging manufactures enter into the market along with the growing demand for specialized products and, the competition of the industry is acutely intensified. It is thus necessary for firms in the forging industry to transform in order to deal with competition and quickly changing customer needs. Base on the framework developed by Teece (2007), this study is mainly to explore what kind of dynamic capabilities enable firms in the forging industry to be competitive and facilitate the industry to grow rapidly. Semi-structured interviews are used to collect data from CEOs of 6 selected firms, including five firms in each category of the forging industry as well as one traditional manufacturer for making contrast. All six respondents in this multiple case studies are having more than 20 years of experience in the industry. The purposes of this study include understanding current development and trend of the forging industry, exploring the industrial transformation path, and understanding key factors contributed to the industrial competitive advantage. According to the research results, six propositions are developed in this paper, including: (1)forging manufacturers have a wide range of production capacity by product transition to adapt to market changes; (2)forging manufacturers enhance product quality through technology transformation, and therefore into the new market; (3)forging firms have capabilities of the diversity process to enhance their competitiveness; (4)forging manufacturers improve quality by enhancing technology with their-owned R&D capabilities; or approach new market and increase competitiveness by developing new process;(5) With strategic-alliance, forging manufactures get vertical or transversely profits, and both side gain the win-win prospect and reach better global competitiveness;(6) Through technical cooperation, forging manufacturers can manage assets and share resources with other firms or research organizations, which makes more value-added.
