In recent years, the focus has gradually turned to explore whether personality traits of leaders influence effectiveness of leadership. In addition, follower-centric leadership theories, known as implicit leadership theories (ILTs), have also come to emerge. The theories suggest that effectiveness of leadership does not only depend on leaders themselves but also on the social-constructivist perspective shared by leaders. One of ILTs is romance of leadership, presented by Meindl in 1985. Romance of leadership emphasizes the pivotal role of effectiveness of leadership in organization performances. People who tend to romanticize leadership believe that leadership is the most important factor in determining organization performances. The study aims to investigate the situation on romanticizing leadership and whether self-efficacy and personality traits of the subjects play a role. The subjects include students of on-the-job MBA programs in five universities of Kaohsiung Area. 300 questionnaires are issued with 228 returned and 205 valid. The result shows that people with higher/lower self-efficacy tend to/do not tend to romanticize leadership. Besides, agreeableness, extraversion and openness to experience in the Big Five have influences on romance of leadership. Liu, Ting-Yang 劉廷揚 2010 學位論文 ; thesis 56 en_US
