Most bus manufactories in Taiwan are lack of accurate design ability to estimate the strength of bus structures. Therefore it is high risky about the bus safety due to the poor uniformity of the bus structure. In the recent years, the bus rollover accidents have cause the heavy injuries of the passengers. To improve the above issue, the government has built the local criterion refer to the ECE R66 regularities. To establish“Vehicle Safety Testing Directions-550. Strength of the superstructure of large passenger vehicles”. 97 Year on December 31 implement officially in Republic of China. Conforms to the laws and regulations “550. Strength of the superstructure of large passenger vehicles-Quasi-static calculation based on- 21 -testing of components” the request. This study chooses the numerical method to verify the bus structure. The wildly used CAE tools, i.e. Hyperworks and LS-DYNA, have been applied here. The extruding damage tests of the local structures had to been finished, and the measured data should be the reference of CAE process. The test data can response both the material parameters and the welding class. This research introduced the tests process. The use bodywork length is skeleton of test sample several typical city buses. Preliminary test result demonstrated and prompted the verifying suggestions, which will reduce the manufacturing cost.
