A Study on Key Success Factors of Deep Sea Water Industry in Taiwan－Case of Hualien County

碩士 === 國立屏東科技大學 === 農企業管理系所 === 98 === In the time of being deficient on energy and water resources, many countries have invested on the development of emerging energy and water resources. Deep sea water, which has a characteristic of low temperature, clean content, and enrichment on high nutrient salts and various trace elements, has been considered as an emerging substitute of water source. This thesis takes the scope of Hualien County, and the research has the purpose of: 1. Analyzing the present situation of Hualien County’s deep sea water industry, in order to probe the trend of industrial competition. 2. Probing the key success factors of Taiwan’s deep sea water industrial development. 3. Providing suggestions for management of the industry and policy implementation of the government, according to the findings of this research. This research deliberated firstly on relevant literatures and expert opinions to outline the six variables and 25 influential factors of Taiwan’s deep sea water industry. Then, the Delphi Law was used to seek common understanding between experts and Taiwan’s deep sea water industry management. Finally, the level analytic hierarchy process (AHP) was implemented for result extraction to confirm the key success factors for developing Taiwan’s deep sea water industry. These research findings showed that effects of the six variables, by the order of importance, on Taiwan’s deep sea water industrial development are: (1) government, (2) demand conditions, (3) firm strategy, structure and rivalry, (4) factor conditions, (5) related and supporting industries, and (6) chance. Moreover, the main key success factors influencing Taiwan’s deep sea water industry was ranked integratedly according to their overall weight value. We conclude that the weight value of the first ten factors account for 64.9% of the whole. By the order of importance, they are: “potential market opportunity”, “industrial brand establishment”, “product marketing conformity”, “overall plan application”, “product value promotion”, “confirmation system establishment”, “industrial cybotaxis effect”, “multi-dimensional development potential”, “revision of related laws and regulations”, and “different industrial combined situations.” Thus, these ten influential factors truly constitute the key success factors for Taiwan’s deep sea water industry. Taking a broad view of the development of Taiwan’s deep sea water industry at present, the government in terms of its policy, truly acts as the biggest promoter, and in addition devotes energy to advise entrepreneurs to promote product values, to provide subsidy resources to carry on multi-dimensional development and plan perspective industrial strategies. Besides, administrative rules and regulations, technical research and development, marketing, and nurtured counseling and promotion, should be properly plan as well. On the entrepreneurial aspect, in addition to creating market opportunities to promote positive external demand conditions, different industrial combinations, brand establishment, and integrated marketing can also be utilized to strengthen industrial structures and competition. And, combination of non-governmental technology supports and research units’ R&D capabilities may promote our country to join the rank of the world’s top three countries on deep sea water industry. Deep sea water is a significant basis to Taiwan for developing biotechnology, fine agriculture, tourism, and high-quality living industries. The conclusions and suggestions of this research can become references for managing entrepreneurs and the government.
