The study used a descriptive research design. A convenient sample of 70 renal failure patients was recruited from two dialysis units in Taiwan. After signing an inform consent, participants answered a questionnaire which included the basic information, the dialysis knowledge scale, the social support scale, the decision self-efficacy scale and the decisional conflict scale. Data were collected from December in year 2009 to July in year 2010. Descriptive statistics, T-test, one way analysis of variance, Pearson Product Moment correlation coefficient, multiple-regression, and logistic regression were applied to explore patients’ decisional conflict and its related factors. The results show the overall decisional conflict of renal failure patients regarding choosing dialysis modalities is low. The average score of the renal failure patients’ decisional conflict was 1.17(SD=0.89)measured with the decisional conflict scale. Seventy five point five percent of the enrolled patients had no decisional conflict, and 10 percent of the patients had decisional conflict. The renal failure patients’ decisional conflict was associated with age, education, work status, financial resources, decision preference, dialysis modality, dialysis related education program, decision makers, consideration for the impact on the work, dialysis related knowledge, social support, decision self-efficacy. Results of the stepwise multiple regression analysis showed that the predictions of decisional conflict were decision self-efficacy, dialysis modality, education program, knowledge and social support. These five variables explained 76.2 percent of the variance in real failure patients’ decisional conflict. In logistic regression, factors associated with decisional conflict were decision self-efficacy, dialysis related education program, and social support (the odds ratio was 12.54, 19.74, and 8.64 respectively). The results can help health care workers to understand the patients’ situation and be used in education program before choosing dialysis modalities. Tsae-Jyy Wang 王采芷 2010 學位論文 ; thesis 83 zh-TW
