Summary:碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 教育學系 === 98 === The study aims to understand how the decline of birth rate in Taiwan affects the number of elementary schools’ classes in central Taiwan, the present situation of vacant school space, the situation of reusing vacant school space, and the procedure of campus space plan in schools of decreasing classes. “The questionnaire of reusing vacant school space after elementary school decreasing classes in central Taiwan is used to collect data .The sample and its objects are schools of decreasing classes from 2004 to 2008 academic years in central Taiwan. Totally, there is 248 effective data, and analyzed with percentage and Chi-Square. The conclusions of the study are as follows: 1. The decline of birth rate in Taiwan causes the influence of decreasing classes and reducing students’ number year by year in elementary schools in central Taiwan. 2. After elementary schools decreasing classes in central Taiwan, as for the vacant school space, the situation is the number of teaching space vacancy is more; and among this, the number of ordinary classroom vacancy is the most, but that of outer space vacancy is not so much. 3. After elementary schools decreasing classes in central Taiwan, either teaching vacant space or outer school space is reused commonly. The appropriate rate is high after vacant school space reusing. 4. The procedure of campus space plan is partly different between schools of decreasing classes in central Taiwan.
