Its key feature is to transfer the power to secondary stage by electro-magnetic coupling to achieve an effective and safe function of power supply. Due to the current needs and trend of down-sized handheld IT products, this study focus on the air-medium, non-contact and PCB winding transformer which significantly reduces the thickness of secondary circuit. Since no magnetic conductive ma-terial is used between the primary and secondary stages, the magnetic leakage of the transformer consequently increases that limits the efficiency of power transmission. Therefore, the skin effect and proximity effect applied, the “S”shape multi-layer PCB layout and diamond shape coil constitute a hexagonal structure to increase the inductance, electro-magnetic coupling efficiency and also improve the physical disadvantage of air-cored transformer. By incorporating the Royal DC-AC circuitry and such transformer, the feasibility of non-contact transformer in this system is thus evidenced.
