Besides, Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) combines the Forward Error Correction (FEC) and Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ) techniques. Two HARQ methods are commonly adopted; i.e. Chase Combining (CC) and Incremental Redundancy (IR). In this paper, we propose a simple decision method for the relay station to decide the adopted CC or IR scheme. Simulations show that with the simple decision rule, the Packet Error Rate (PER) and system throughput can be further improved for the proposed cooperative relay system.
