The natural catastrophes are lightning strike, earthquake and typhoon, and mentioned equipments are power generator, transformer, circuit breaker, gas insulated switchgear and cables. The failures of equipments result from long-term operation and bad condition of environment. These factors cause ageing phenomenon of equipments. So, understanding the condition of equipment is very crucial to the stability of the operation of power systems. This research includes monitoring and diagnosis of ageing phenomenon of a transformer. The system installed on a transformer in Sheng-Mei Extra-High Voltage substation of Taiwan Power Company. One can catch the data form the system by PC or internet to know the ageing phenomenon. In this study, we can understand how the monitoring system produces the ageing diagnosis of a transformer to provide the user better knowledge of the transformer condition. Furthermore, it can provide the users sufficient information to maintain this transformer effectively and optimize the loading.
