Thus, constructing the image of a city by those kinds of cultural institutions has been a vital tendency. Besides this, it has become a key subject of discussion on the correlation between city and cultural institution as well. Therefore, the aim of this research attempts to explore how Art Triangle Roppongi practices the concept of enhancing the urban image and reviving the city by founding cultural institutions.
This research is to discuss the relationship between museum images and urban images. Due to its phenomena rather than statistics based characteristic, the method of Qualitative Research along with Case Study is applied to this paper. From the collected information and analyzing the result of the "experts’ interview" centering on Art Triangle Roppongi as the sample of Case Study supported by concrete elements, this research examined how museums build up specific image by cooperation which can promote the urban image further.
Results seem to warrant conclusions about the character of cultural institutions. First, they play an important role to extend urban image. In addition, they have the mission to promote the urban image. At last, they take the responsibility to construct strong personal images which can upgrade the urban image. As a result, this research provides three suggestions to managers of cultural institutions, Urban Planners and other relevant operators: (1) Constructing and consolidating an image of the museum by a comprehensive program. (2) The government should support the program and supply related research. (3) To advocate private enterprises involving the development into museum image and urban image.
