The purpose of music education in the Arts and Humanities Curriculum, is not only to teach students to read music, experience rhythm, appreciate a melody, play an instrument or sing a song, but also to inspire their creativity and expressiveness as well as a tolerance and respect for the creations of others. However, our present music education does not exactly conform to the guidelines of the Arts and Humanities Curriculum. In fact it actually limits opportunity for creation. The concept of learning happily is the most popular one for both education researchers and education establishments. The main purpose of this study was to find ways of improving elementary school music education by combining the course with a game or a favorite toy. A questionnaire was used in a survey of the learning attitude that employed a music learning attitude scale and a toy assisted music learning opinion. We found that the willingness of students to learn, when using the toy assisted music learning course, was higher than in the traditional courses. It also reduced the anxiety associated with music learning and allowed better focus and concentration in the class. Furthermore, in our compilation of the statistics from the questionnaire, it was clear that the students doing the toy assisted course were more willing and confident in music creation and they also loved the style of the toy. The result shows the method can improve the learning attitude and enhance interest in music creation. The “music donut”, when used as a toy to assist the teaching of music, can improve the elementary school music course. Pai-Shan Pa, Ph. D. 巴白山 2010 學位論文 ; thesis 92 zh-TW
