Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 生命教育與健康促進研究所 === 98 === This research uses pictorial story books with interviews and discussion groups to research the reaction of middle grade elementary school children toward the issue of death in the story books, and according to the finding, the abstract is as follow: On the issue of death, children’s concept of death includes "causation", and "inorganic energy", and "universality", "irreversible", "body no longer exists," "the world after death" and so on. On the aspect of emotional reactions, children display the following emotions and reactions toward death in the story books: fear and uncertain of death, concern and dismay to protagonists in picture books, respect for life, sadness and separation, pity, loneliness, and the facilitation of future expectation to transform grief, etc. On the aspect of association with relevant experience, the children associate death in the picture books with the following: to replace sadness with remembrance, to be reminded of the person with seeing something, to be grateful and cherishing, to feel guilty and regretful, and eternal memories and remembrance. On the aspect of life wisdom and comprehension, the children's reactions toward understanding the wisdom of life on death in the picture books is as follows: experience of the inevitability of death, cherish the value of life, willingness to spread love for the self and for others, and understanding that the good will always be remembered. Finally, the suggestions will be given based on the search result and will be provided as reference to researchers or workers involved in death education or life education.
