Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 幼兒教育學系碩士班 === 99 === Abstract This study investigated job satisfaction and career development among preschool child class teachers in Taitung County as well as the differences in job satisfaction and career development among teachers with different background variables. The research methodology was based on questionnaire survey and interview. The research tools were three questionnaires developed by the researchers. The research subjects were 252 preschool child class teachers in public preschools, private preschools, public daycare centers, and private daycare centers located in Taitung County, covering one city, two townships, and 13 villages (including two offshore islands). From these subjects, 235 valid questionnaire responses were obtained. Nine of them were also interviewed. The analysis methods, including descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, two-way ANOVA, multiple regression method, and canonical correlation analysis, were adopted to process the research data. The main conclusions were as follows: 1. In terms of overall job satisfaction, preschool child class teachers in Taitung County had an intermediate-high level of job satisfaction. Among the seven dimensions of job satisfaction, they were most satisfied with “interpersonal relations” and least satisfied with “organizational participation”. If classified by “institution type”, those teaching in private preschools, private daycare centers, and public daycare centers were least satisfied with “salary and benefits”. 2. In terms of overall career development, preschool child class teachers in Taitung County had an intermediate-high level of career development. Among the five dimensions of career development, they perceived the highest level of development in “learning and growth” and the lowest in III “adaptation and exploration”. If classified by “institution type”, those teaching in private daycare centers perceived a high level of development in “adaptation and exploration”, which was only second to “learning and growth”. 3. The job satisfaction among preschool child class teachers in Taitung County varied by teacher’s age, institution type, region of the institution, status of being a licensed teacher, professional degree in preschool education, type of identification, and monthly salary. 4. No significant difference in job satisfaction existed among teachers with different marital statuses, education backgrounds, service durations, statuses of taking an administrative position, and teacher-student ratios. Further analysis of teachers’ job satisfaction by type of identification showed that job satisfaction among teachers in public preschools varied by status of taking an administrative position. 5. The perceptions of career development among preschool child class teachers in Taitung County varied by teacher’s age, marital status, service durations, status of taking an administrative position, type of identification, and monthly salary. 6. No significant difference in career development existed among teachers with different education backgrounds, service institutions, service areas, statuses of being a licensed teacher, professional degree in preschool education, and teacher-student ratios. 7. A high level of correlation existed between job satisfaction and career development among preschool child class teachers in Taitung County.
