Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 工藝設計學系 === 98 === “Affordance” was created by the ecological psychologist Gibson. It was referred to an interdependent relationship between the environment and creatures. It’s a common feature which provides the possibility of interactions between creatures and the environment (objects). Over the years, the concept of “affordance” has been widely used in various fields and bas been generated many different meanings and interpretations. In the domain of product design, “affordance” was used to explain the relationship between a product and users’ mentality. Based on the literature review, a theoretical framework of “affordance” was established. A questionnaire survey was conducted to collect the data required. By using the technique of factor analysis, five design dimensions of “affordance” were summarized including 1) Shape and Aesthetics, 2) Intuition and Perception, 3) Prearranged Usage, 4) Completeness and feature, and 5) Memory and Experience. A formal questionnaire was then developed to verify the construct of affordance by examining some well-known products. Four new products were also created in this study and were examined their properties of affordance using the questionnaire investigation. Through the survey and data analysis, a design model of “affordance” was established. The results generated in this study could be useful to a product designer. The application of “affordance” could help designer to have perfect interaction with user and to create lovely, friendly product, and ultimately to make life better.
