It is found that the height of traditional street lighting ranges from 5 m to 10 m, for various luminaire types, arrangements, kinds of lampposts, and locations. At this height, it is difficult to repair a breakdown, and risks exist during repairs. This study proposes a novel design of LED lighting fixture – low street lighting, which is installed close to the ground, and thus is easier to maintain and repair. The proposed low street lighting can achieve the same luminance performance as traditional street lighting.
