The loading variation, line characteristic, traditional reactive power and voltage control devices, such as OLTC and reactors, and some advanced reactive power compensation units, such as SVC and STATCOM are considered. If let the operation of regional transmission networks easier and the power quality better. The computer simulation includes the compensator location and design of terminal voltage feedback. In the regional transmission networks, The studies use ETAP and MATLAB to traditional and advanced reactive power compensator. Simulation results of Hua-tung and Chung-gang section are shown to verify the proformance of the power system with advanced reactive power compensator that is better than the traditional one. Advanced reactive power compensation units can’t be located in the terminal of the regional power transmission network.
