Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄大學 === 國際高階經營管理碩士在職專班(IEMBA) === 98 === Intense marketing competition has led to the increasing importance of knowledge management (KM) for the knowledge-intensive industry. For example, product development of the small- and medium- sized LCD display has now matured and moved to the high competitive state. Key issues to gain competitiveness for this are product quality, price, and speed of mass production. These issues are quite related to the knowledge innovation of new product design, and may be resolved by the effective management as well as the continuous innovation of knowledge. Accordingly, this research thesis conducts a case study to examine the importance and performance of a KM system. The small- and medium- sized LCD display division of the optical business unit in a high-tech company is selected as the case subject. There are eleven respondents that are either in management level or in execution level (e.g., R&D, engineers, quality assurance), both selected from Taiwan and mainland China. The technique of IPA (importance and performance analysis) is used to derive the research results. Research findings indicate: (1) the overall importance mean and performance mean is 7.97 and 7.24, respectively, implying an adequate use of KMS; (2) the management of knowledge content establishment shows the best appropriate use, attributed mainly to the well-developed component database and design database to satisfy the needs of low complexity, but high variety; (3) The importance response result of the knowledge feedback management shows high, but low performance, due to the rare knowledge interaction; (4) for the knowledge sharing and knowledge adoption, most respondents reply low importance and low performance, implying that these two functions are not as imperative as they expect so far; and (5) the knowledge storage management shows over-emphasized. The main reason is that they are not aware of the difference from the previous well-stored and managed mechanism.
