Dietary verbs vary due to the properties of food, the used parts in the oral, the relationship between the speaker and the receiver or the context. Hence, this paper selects “culinary verbs” and “dietary verbs” of Sixian Hakka in Taiwan as「paranymy field」and respectively investigates the differences between those synonyms by analyzing the semantic elements. In addition, they can be concluded to be categorized into the feature words of Sixian Hakka in Northern Taiwan. Field investigation was conducted in this paper in order to collect the culinary verbs and the dietary verbs of Sixian Hakka in Taiwan. Furthermore, original words were found out by the means of looking them up in the dictionaries. Finally, componential analysis was applied to conduct componential analysis to find out distinctive features. Furthermore, through comparing to the words in the dictionaries, it was found out that when a dietary verb which sounds indecent actually shows the intimacy of the speaker and the receiver. Proverbs related to "food" in Sixian Hakka of Northern Taiwan are abundant and diverse and they contain the Hakka cultural elements. Based on the amount of members in the semantic field, the Sixian Hakka dishes of Northern Taiwan are preferred to be steamed.
