Their molecular structures were confirmed by NMR spectroscopy, MS and IR. Using POSS-16, POSS-17, POSS-18, and POSS-19 to interact with various metal ions towards complexayion we discovered thar the fluorescence emission spectra were different for mixtures of above nano dyes and divalent metal ions. Distinguished from other metal ions, the fluorescence intensity due to Pb is markedly more intense. For POSS-16Pb, POSS-17Pb, POSS-18Pb and POSS-19Pb, the fluorescence quantum yields are 2.1-26 times and the fluorescence intensity is greater than those of the original POSS without Pb addition. The interference of other metal ions, at high concentrations were also studied. The interfering ions caused detection of Pb slight fluorescence intensity decrease , but will not affect the ions.The POSS-16Pb, POSS-17Pb, POSS-18Pb and POSS-19Pb, exhibited fluorescence emission maxima shift towards longer wavelengths. Presumably, the addition of Pb ions changed the mechanisnes of fluorescence emission via the formation of much more excimer that has much lower energy levels for the excited state.
