Summary:碩士 === 東吳大學 === 政治學系 === 98 === In 1968, The Prague spring was upraising the curtain of Czech Republic’s democratization, then the Charter 77 movement stake off a claim on freedom and basic human rights, but it was till the 1989 that people’s desire for freedom and democracy defeat communist ruling, and the Czech Republic was built in 1993. In the process of Czech’s political development and democratization, civil society has play an very important role. The former president Vacláv Havel was devoted to the power of powerless, launch Charter 77 movement, organizes the Civil Forum, even entry to the governmental system and elected to be the President. The discussions on civil society currently are broadly but not precisely. It may refer to one kind of culture or institution, or involve in the combination of mass power, could be promote the civic participation, education and benefit integration; And Non-governmental organizations is part of civil society, is an concrete form of organized mass power. The development of civil society is relative to the democracy, from democratization to democratic consolidation, it stimulates the democratization despite of its claims opposite to state or not. In sum, the relation between civil society and democratization, and the key role of civil society in the process of Czech’s democratization will be the core point of this research.
