碩士 === 東海大學 === 中國文學系 === 98 === This research is to find out the character types in Su Dong Po stories. For the character and plot differences between Dong Po stories, and the character type difference between true history and stories, are all included. By the way, for the primary supporting role Fo Yin and Red Lotus, where are the source of these two roles come from, and what’s the roles they played with Dong Po in the true life? The conclusion is, there are many character types of Dong Po in stories, and we can summarize into four types: A genious in poetry and essay, A loyal courtier anxious about country and population, Half scholar and monk in meditation and taiost, Predestined relationship for previous and current existence. Since story can reflect the thoughts of the people, so these character types are in the deep mind of people for a long time, and can be accepted easier than the true history and become “Art Truth”. In first chapter, the motive, purpose, methodology and scope of this research are described. In second chapter, using “History of Sung Dynasty” as the kernel information to introduce the character of Dong Po, also include other relative information. In third chapter, describes the character types of Dong Po in novel and drama, compares the difference of Dong Po character types and plot between relative stories and history. In fourth chapter, describes the four summarized character types, and analysis the source for Fo Yin and Red Lotus, and the effect of public believing in transmigration. For fifth chapter, It is the summarized conclusion.
