碩士 === 東海大學 === 歷史學系 === 98 === The government of the Republic of China promulgated Taiwan to remove the martial law state on July 15, 1987.Four years later, The National Assembly resolved on April 22, 1991 to abolish the Temporary Provisions Effective During the Period of Communist Rebellion, and on April 30, President Lee Teng‐hui declared the Period of Communist Rebellion to be terminated as of May 1. Signifying normalization of the government to abide by the Constitution of the Republic of China, this act also stimulated the rapid and secret growth of Taiwan Independence movement, which had long been suppressed, in name of democratic reform. In 1992, the government authorized to open the study on the 228 incident. From then on, continuing release of public opinion in this incident, year by year, had broadened the space for rhetoric development of Taiwan independence movement, made it a sensational topic widely known to the general public, and become the centre of political struggle and citizens’ confrontation. This thesis tried to collect and describe the relevant public opinion, aided by approach on its historical development, rhetoric, land, culture, ethnicity, blood relationship, legal status, national name, identification mechanism, etc. to expound the fact and carry on evaluation and analysis.
