The heat pump can reduce and replace hot water boilers which consume numerous energy and can lower the cost of operation in order to save energy and reduce carbon. At present, due to people operate heat pump by means of accumulation of experiences, this system does not work in the perfect condition. In this thesis, the cost of energy operation is cut down by controlling the power switch of heat pump. If the capacity of the heat pump’s thermal storage tank, the volume of the heat pump, the temperature of the thermal storage tank, the demand of load, etc are all the known conditions, then we set the cost of using energy is the target function and the power switch of heat pump is the variable, we will find out the optimal operation of the heat pump by the branch and bound method. Through this thesis, we can decide when we turn on the heat pump or when we shut off the main engine so as to gain the least cost of energy operation and decrease the energy consumption in effect.
