Description
Summary:碩士 === 淡江大學 === 建築學系碩士班 === 98 === Ocean and fishing industries have been one of the most important industries for Taiwan under the environment of surrounding seas. Taiwan’s R&D of fisheries and aquaculture technology is the leader in the Asia and hundreds of species of ornamental fish and food fish are exported to the countries worldwide. Such rich ocean environment has caused close relationship between people’s life in Taiwan and fish. But under the accessible fishery resources and environment, Taiwan has developed a strange way to get along with between people and fish, such as sticking fish, gambling fish pond, in which the relationship between people and fish is established on the entertainment, money and even fish abuse. The aquariums which can be found everywhere in Taiwan consider the fish nothing more than a product for sale. We even do not pay the least attention to the right of fish life but consider the fish as an object providing entertainment. Fish has been staying at a leisure object for consumption that the relationship between people and fish is established on money and materialization and substantial relationship between people and fish is gradually disappearing. In the early stage of this study, the researcher took the personal experiences in fishing along Tamsui River as the background of design. I n the process of fishing, it is found that there are many life events concerning with fish in many areas of Tamsui, through the observation on the base, the researcher found the special “fish culture” in Taiwan. The background of fish culture reflects the long-term indifference to the relativity between people and fish, wanton destruction of marine environment and inhuman consumption behaviors for fish. In this research, through the personal experiences in fishing, the author tried to look for harmonious relationship between people and fish. The first series of design in the research started from observation on the traditional seafood shop in the old street of Tamsui, the researcher found what the bosses of seafood shops cared about are only if the fish are fresh and delicious that is an over-consumption. They have totally cast the pleasure the fish have brought to us and the meaning of the fish for the environment behind their back. In the process of consumption, the fish have become just an alternative of money exchange. The second and third series of designs reflect the relationship among residents of Tamsui, fishermen and the fish, highlight human’s expectation for getting close to the natural field of ocean while showing a contradictory psychology of over-using ocean. Hence, it is hoped by the research that it could respond the unbalanced relationship between human beings and ocean through design. The fourth series of designs take the large-scale base as the introspection of natural type of city life and reflect the model that people and fish live together in the crowded metropolitan life space. It is hoped that the research could deliver a new attitude toward the coexistence of human beings and fish, enhance the ecological environment for the existence of fish and create a space in the metropolitan life of coexistence of human beings and fish to reduce the human behaviors of hurting fish or damage marine environment and re-interpret the new relationship between human beings and fish.
