Description
Summary:碩士 === 臺北市立教育大學 === 視覺藝術學系碩士班 === 98 === Bopiliao Historic District is the most well-preserved Qing-dynasty district in Taipei City which has existed for more than 200 years and has undergone the periods of Qing dynasty, Japanese colonization and Taiwan restoration. This old district is characterized by and substantiated with unique architectural style, as well as historical events, pop culture, and traditional industry. After a lengthy discussion and restoration that has lasted for about 20 years, part of the east sector of Bopiliao is turned into the Heritage and Culture Education Center of Taipei, and the west sector is regulated as Bopiliao Historic District. This study focuses on the planning as well as cultural and financial benefits of Bopiliao Historic District. The cultural value of Bopiliao Historic District lies in its merit to demonstrate the urban development, and to provide a base for connecting other cultural heritage sites nearby, thus making modern urban life imbued with a historical and cultural depth. It not only encompasses educational and recreational significances, but also helps promote cultural economy and tourism. The Cultural Property Preservation Law in Taiwan has added a new category, namely “Cultural Landscape,” in 2005, which reveals the consequences of interaction between man and the natural environment in the past. This author holds that Bopiliao Historic District meets the definition and qualifications of cultural landscape, and suggests that it be enlisted as cultural landscape. In addition, a historic site should be regulated and managed in a jointed effort by the public authority and local inhabitants to design activities that are both appropriate to its historical background and suitable for contemporary usage. Finally, the author makes some suggestions about long-term planning and regulation.
