In Taiwan, the creation of New Media Art has become mature both in quality and quantity, and has emerged as a new star at important exhibitions and art events, domestically and international. However, as the frequency of exhibitions increases, there are more and more problems of displaying and exhibiting New Media Art. Most of the time, artist are asked to go to the site and to solve the problems. However, once the work has been collected by the museum, it would be the institution’s reasonability to reinstall the artwork afterwards. Therefore, in view of museum working tasks, in order to prepare for the reinstallation of New Media Art, artists’ opinions must be considered ever since the registration process, so as to build a profile with key information of reinstallation and conservation. Through the in-depth interview to some artists, the study generalized the factors and problems of New Media Art installation, and formed a frame of reference concerning conservation and reinstallation. Combining with the literature analysis of the Tate experience, the study concluded key elements in the conservation and reinstallation procedures, and to suggest for the format and the execution of the artworks. The technology feature and assembly character of New Media Art are the main reasons causing display problems. And to install the artwork according to the original ideas would influence the process and the results of conservation and exhibition. The study suggested to strengthen the relationship between museums and artists, whereas artists should play a more important role in the process of conservation and reinstallation, through the mechanism of artist interview. In view of conservation, accompanied with other museum professionals in preservation, exhibition and documentation, the study suggested to build a clearer profile that base on the context of the work, with descriptions of the connection between ideas and each element within the work, so as to achieve a complete collection.
