It is a good example that there are plastic collections of modern materials in the museum. However, the modern material artworks are quite different from the traditional painting in preservation, restoration, and conservation. To provide the best artwork protection, it is requested to offer an adequate environment and correct knowledge due to the diverse characteristic in modern materials. Take polyurethane as an example, it had been used in arts, designs, and crafts for several styles. According to different ingredient and synthetic method, it had been application to painting, glue, elastomer, fiber, and foaming material like man-made leather, synthetic foams, etc. Nevertheless, their modern looks may result a wrong impression that those plastic can last forever than those traditional materials like stone, wood, or pottery. In another word, modern materials were assumed to be care or protected less commonly. Anyhow, the truth is that plastic are ageing much faster than traditional materials. From 19th century, the manufacture has been widely discussed in synthetic plastics history. However, in the conservation and restoration field, must to focus on the material characteristic, ageing condition, and practical case of the conservation and restoration.
