If motherboards are not stable (such as hanging while booting from the BIOS), the causes of instability must be identified, analyzed and fixed by firmware engineers. Thus, a good stability test system for x86 motherboards is extremely important for not only speeding up the production process but also avoiding the financial punishment of late delivery from OEM customers. This paper proposes an SOPC-based embedded system for automatic stability testing of x86 motherboards. Our approach has the following advantages: firstly, our testing platform is very easy to install; secondly, our system can concurrently test up to four motherboards; and finally, high accuracy on stability test can be easily achieved.
