With respect to the design of system, its basic structure is categorized into four sections: 1. Establishment of Knowledge Base of Anti-fire Regulation, 2. Build-up of Knowledge Acquisition Facility, to facilitate the expansion of rules, amendment and revision, 3. Construction of User Interface, to ease the application for users more friendly, 4. Mechanism of Forward Chaining, to control the process of analysis and reasoning. Above system will solely require the user to enter the conditions and attribute of buildings to be tested, to execute a further analysis automatically, thereby generating proper rules as well as professional recommendation. At present, the safety inspection and design of public buildings are basically performed by the fire protection engineers and technicians. Because many regulations and laws are involved, somewhat ignorance, mistake may occur due to the qualification and experience of such involved members. Besides, it will spend abundant times and resources to train an expert of such field, therefore sufficient experts are not allowed to be generated for a short time. Thus, popular PCs are used to develop the program of “Expert System for Fire-code regulation protocol”. By means of such system, the expert wisdom aids in the design and understanding of regulations. Users can choose the most suitable devices depending on physical situation and environment efficiently, to avoid human ignorance and faults, thus, public hazards and accidents can be avoided.
