Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 台灣文學研究所 === 99 === Tang Wen-Biao was a contradict person. He has beloved Eileen Chang’s novels since childhood, but, in contrary, composed a book entitled “Rubbish of Chang Ai-Ling”, claiming to “criticize the “mistakes” of the writer”. However, at this outrightly moment, during the era that exchanges of literal information were difficult, he strove as much as possible to collect all types of Chang’s works and edited it into “Chronology of works”. Whether such controversial phenomenon made any sense is what the researcher wants to figure out. Moreover, the paper tries to analyze how desolate, rotten and dark the world of Chang’s novels was in Tang’s eye. Step by step, he walked into a place without light. (Sourced from “Gold Lock”) Certainly, Tang was not approved of such a world of novel that was sick and full of darkness. Hence, he wrote the “Rubbish” book to criticize her. But since it being the reason of Tang regarding Chang’s books, what perspective he held toward to state Chang? Are his explanations trustworthy, or full of wrong bias? Furthermore, was the “Method Theory” Tang described about Chang existed blindsides and limits? The paper will discuss and organize about the above issues and hoping that the academia would put more efforts on the researches of Eileen Chang and her works.
