Although this approach is simple and easy it does not account for the effect of deformation and strength, and also needs abundant simplifying assumptions. In addition, the location of the critical slipping surface needs to be defined in advance. These make the application of the limit equilibrium method very limited and incompletel. As opposed to the limit equilibrium method, the finite-element method has less limitation. In general, as applying the finite-element method to investigate the slope stability numerically, the shear strenghte reduction technique is used to obtain the rational safe factor for the slope and then to determine the potential location of the slipping surface. Thus the current study uses the limit equilibrium method to analyze the slipping surface and then applies the finite-element method to examine the stress for the stability of the slopes with rooted-soil and without rooted-soil. Our results show that rooted-soils has obvious contributions to the slop with lower degrees. Keywords: slope stability, limit equilibrium method, finite element method, shear strength reduction technique. Yu,Hsin-Wan Chen,Chu-Hui 游新旺 陳主惠 2011 學位論文 ; thesis 76 zh-TW
