A well-defined item bank can save plenty of item constructing time, also has the potential of improving the quality of tests. Building an item bank often consumes lot of time and manpower. We can accelerate the process of building item bank with computer-assisted item generation software, but sometimes it needs a person involved to select the words which have unreasonable semantics in an item. We proposed an automatic item generation system, specified multiple item templates, and use different words of subject, verb, object, a question sentence, and variable numbers to substitute the elements of a template to constructing a test. In order to keep a sentence going smoothly and fluently; decrease the number of artificial intervention; and the consideration of rationality among elements; are the keys in our system. The proposed automatic item generation system can quickly create a series of items, and improve the time consuming and manpower cost. We constructed a simple UI which is easy to use, let item requesters only need to choose the categories of items, and decrease the requirement of computer information related knowledge.
