The study further explored the transformation of the roles that women played traditionally in the flow of space and time. I tried to approach the limits of symbolism which represent the emotions and thoughts that a woman might cherish and treasure. My works explored the inner meaning of the world constructed with the real and the imaginary that reflects women’s traditional life style and images in their mind. Appropriating surrealism, symbolism and theory of appropriation, the internal images of individuals were probed through re-composition of space, disposition of colors, expressiveness of lines and the dynamic of the interaction between these elements. Generally speaking, there are two main genres that constitute the series of my works: 1) Nostalgia: These works focus on the customary practices and cultural traces of human life. 2) Moment of Transcendence: These images not only represent the life and world where it dwells but also inspire the audience to transpose and associate the concrete images to abstract meanings and symbolism behind the scene. The admiration of the works of this kind focuses not upon the detailed and realistic images that an observer can perceive but rather upon the self-involvement and self-absorption of the observer that can induce further imagination and inspiration and connect oneself to the original intent of the painter. By creating these works, I tried to transcend the medium of the realistic images and unify my works with the spirit of modernist art. Lee, Yung Han 李元亨 2011 學位論文 ; thesis 123 zh-TW
