碩士 === 大葉大學 === 設計暨藝術學院碩士在職專班 === 99 === This research aimed to record and explore how the inhabitants of Rao-ping Village, Tian-wei Township, Chang-hua County formed their life culture, and hoped to evoke the local villagers’ emphasis and value about their living environment. Therefore, the researcher studied Rao-ping Village’s living environment with qullitative research method, and investigated the substantial space of “Rao-ping settlement”. There were historical document reviews, object collection, interviews with local seniors, and participatory observation on inhabitants’ living experience. Lastly, text( location, culture, and activity) interpretation and writing were conducted in hope to lead more people to recognize and concern about their local culture. The formation of the culture of Rao-ping Village presented the characteristics of intersubjectivity and pluralism, and the factors to formation were multifaced and interconnected. For instance, the formation of settlement depended upon ethnic fusion and tolerance to differences; industry development transitted from traditional agriculture and business to knowledge industry, such as artistic creation of bonsai; faithful religious belief showed the inhabitants’ respectfulness for gods, and connected the emotion of the villagers; life of diligence and perseverance was the expression of obeyance to gods and pliant to everything; public spaces presented richer humanity flavor. On this multiple community cultural basis and with the exuberant efforts of community inhabitants, Rao-ping Village’s community development was vigorous. Since Qing dynasty there were people for exploitaion settled here. In Japanese period, immigrants from Japan joined the exploration. These all enriched the Rao-ping humanity prospect. After the recovery of Taiwan, government land policies attracted new immigrants. With these abundant backdrop and convenient traffic network, Rao-ping Village had become the most populated and potential village of Tian-wei Township.
