Polypropylene and polyester were mixed at different weight ratios by mixer. PP-g-MA was used as the toughening agent, and it intensified the interfacial interaction between PP/PET. Adding nano-SiO2 to PP/PET, it formed PP/PET/SiO2 nano-blends. Using different weight ratios of polypropylene, polyester and nano-SiO2 affected dyeing property of nano-blends and spun into fiber by melt spinning. The dyeing property of PP/PET/SiO2 was discussed. The modified polypropylene was observed from its surface morphology and physical property using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer(FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM), Thermogravimetric Analysis(TGA) , and mechanical testing, and dyeing property, etc. In consideration of FTIR, PPgMA would react with PET theoretically, but there is only a small portion, it was behaved a physical blending. From TGA, the initial decomposition temperature of PP/PET was lower than PP and PET, the initial decomposition temperature increased as PET increased and it reached the highest temperature as 2wt% of SiO2 was added into PP/PET/SiO2;From tensile test, the mechanical property of blends was decreased as both of SiO2 and PET were added. From SEM, the compatibility of PP/PET adding SiO2 was well dispersed in blends. From kinetic data of the dyeing, as PET content increased, dyeing rate constant was raising.
