In the process of educational reform, principal selection is one of the most important issues. Hence, how to select the capable and suitable principal for the schools has become the mainstream concept. During the process of selection, it is expected that all the laws and regulations must be corrected, objective, and professional to all the stakeholders. On the other hand, it is all doubtless that the process should be fair, just and open to meet the needs from all the citizens. The aims of this study are as follows: 1. To analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the selection committee, and to improve the selection system to become more fairness, justice, objectivity. 2. To remedy and correct some shortages of this selection system to be more suitable. 3. To analyze the influences of this system on the campus surroundings, and to prevent some negative effects. 4. To present some suggestions and conclusions for future system development. This research methods of this study are both literature and semi-structure interview. The conclusions could be expressed as followed: 1. It is necessary for the authorities concerned to control the quantity of principal candidates. Moreover, all the principal candidates should take law program. When being in in-service training process, it is much better if the program could be held on holidays to release the pressure of school operation. 2. All the selection commissioners should be provided all the detail information of principal candidates, and informed well all the candidates and commissioners about the selection regulations and laws. 3. To modify the members and categories of selection commissioners. 4. The final outcome is to judge whether the principal is suitable to the school or not. The related stakeholders should present dignities to the principal candidates. Before the selection, there is no evaluative and assessment mechanism. 5. The consequences of school accountability and school evaluation are both two important criteria for selecting school principal. However, school accountability is not necessarily equal to school evaluation. The interval of principal selection should be fixed on every four years. 6. The method to decide by open voting or non-open voting. It is improper to select by asking whether have the objection or not. 7. The principal should have leadership charisma, concern about peer teachers, encourage and inspire the teachers’ intelligences. However, all the personalities of principals would be demanded for the selection of principals. 8. The main and the most important of principals’ characters and personalities are justice and morality. The other qualifications for a good principal are professional, experienced, well-communicated, necessary persistence, kindness, aggressive attitude, democratic and legal, leadership capacity, public relation interaction. But in a rapidly changing social environment, we should equip ourselves with specific competence “the professional competence, the stress-resistant competence, and the crisis-resolving competence”. 張中勇 2011 學位論文 ; thesis 267 zh-TW |
