Individual innovative behavior will build the competitive advantages for the organization. Furthermore, the humor styles will build different organizational atmospheres and then increase individual innovative behavior or not. For the Chinese culture, “Guanxi” is a unique and important point in the organization. It means the different levels of acquaintance. When people appear different humor styles with familiar or unfamiliar group members, they would have different interactions and conflicts. Group conflict includes relationship conflict and task conflict. Relationship conflict affects the organizational atmosphere and even destroys the organizational performance, but task conflict can stimulate organizational creativity and individual innovative behavior. According to the above phenomenon, the purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships among humor styles, group conflicts, and individual innovative behavior under different levels of acquaintance. The valid sample is 400 undergraduate students (80 final project teams). SEM with LISREL computer program was used in this study. When facing familiar team members, the results are as follows: (1) Positive humor styles influence relationship conflict negatively, and negative humor styles influence relationship conflict positively; (2) Positive humor styles influence task conflict positively, and negative humor styles influence task conflict negatively; (3) Both positive humor and negative humor styles have no significantly influences on individual innovative behavior; (4) Both relationship conflict and task conflict have no significantly influences on individual innovative behavior. On the other hand, for the encounter with unfamiliar team members, the results are as follows: (1) Positive humor styles influence relationship conflict negatively, and negative humor styles influence relationship conflict positively; (2) Positive humor styles influence task conflict positively, and negative humor styles influence task conflict negatively;(3) Positive humor styles influence individual innovative behavior positively, and negative humor styles have no significantly influences individual innovative behavior;(4) Relationship conflict has no significantly influences individual innovative behavior, and task conflict influences individual innovative behavior positively. In conclusion, the research found that humor styles actually have significantly influences on different group conflicts and individual innovative behavior.
