This thesis is to make a research on Tsong Kha Pa’s "The Aspirational Prayer to the Realm of Great Bliss" with the purpose of unveiling his thought on Pure Land, which includes making vows, different type of vows, the essential condition of being a practitioner. Since Tsong Kha Pa is regarded as a philosopher of Middle Way and practitioner of tantra, his thought on Pure Land - if it is significantly different from other school of Pure Land thought- becomes the other study topic in this paper.
There are not many explanation and studies about this topic. Based on Tsong Kha Pa's biography and some Geluk scholar's teachings, this present work makes an outline on his Pure Land thought, especially the practice method of Longer Amitabha.
There are 33 vows in the aspirational prayer, which can be divided into 3 categories: 1. Vows of perfection- to obtain perfect body, long life and be born in realm of marvel. 2. Vows of practice - persevere and get great teacher. 3. Vows of benefit others. The most special concept of this prayer is that 2/3 content is telling disciples to reborn for continuous practice. Moreover, to understand his practice method of "Mind-created, Prayer realization and Merit transference", the following master pieces will also be studied and put into reference: "The Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment", "The Three Principal Aspects of the Path" ,and so on。
