Summary: | 碩士 === 玄奘大學 === 社會福利學系碩士班 === 99 === The purpose of this study was to understand the attitudes of home caregivers on assessment of elder abuse and intention to report. We designed the questionnaire to evaluate the capabilities of judging elder abuse and intention to report among home caregivers in Nantou County. At the beginning there were 455 samples in this research plan; however, only 182 valid samples could be analyzed. Statistical methods utilized descriptive statistics, t-test, One-Way ANOVA, Pearson's r, and multiple regressions. The results illustrated that:
1 The Background was a significant factor to explain the attitudes in the assessment, "Sex", "marital status", "work year," and "participation of training program” also played significant roles in assessing elder abuse.
2 Intention to report was affected by personal backgrounds; moreover, female home caregivers were more likely to report.
3 The assessment correlated with the report. Age influenced the assessment and report, and information also impacted both factors.
4 The assessment positively associated intention to report. In other words, the more ability on assessment, the higher intention to report.
5 There were 15.9 % home caregivers did not intent to report even though they had enough ability of assessment. Under such circumstances, home caregivers easily resulted in career fatigue.
According to the results, some suggestions were made for future researchers and policy makers as follows:
1 The training program should be designed for home caregivers, and some supports should provide to agencies.
2 Social policy must identify the role and service of home caregivers as well as helped them.
3 The future research should consider higher elder protections, more accurate measurements, and larger sample size. In addition, elder welfare was an unavoidable issue.
