In recent years, the government opens the market of Chinese tourism, due to the location advantage of the international airport, Taoyuan is foreign tourists’first arrival place. The establishment of high speed rail makes the transportation in Taoyuan more convenient. In addition, Taoyuan becomes a favorite place to visit for domestic and foreign tourists due to natural scenery and cultural wealth such as the Culture Resort of the Jiang, Daxi Old Street, and the Shimen Reservoir .
In the 21st century, airports will no longer function just as transit points for people and products, but will also serve as influential centers of national economic development,” The concept of Aerotropolis is centered on developing airport and expanding to aero-space and other related industries. With integration of different industries, Taoyuan Aerotropolis is an airport city. Taoyuan International Airport is situated at the “hot core” of global trading and logistics. It has an advantageous position. Taoyuan Aerotropolis development plan is one of the “i-Taiwan 12 Projects.” It will connect with the world and become the gateway to the global. The Taoyuan aerotropolis centered on airport covers a total of 6,150 hectares, mainly in Dayuan, Chungli, and Luzhu towns. This study investigates the relationship between Aerotropolis and each city from the perspective of tourism. First of all, researcher uses literature review to analyze the successful cases of aerotropolis in foreign country. In order to know the current planning stage of Aerotropolis and corresponding measures by local officials, Researcher had in-depth interviews with local officials from Dayuan, Chungli, and Luzhu and key persons in Aerotropolis. Finally, suggestion of this study proposes how to integrate three town’s tourism and Aerotropolis.
According to the results of this study, Taoyuan Aerotropolis is still in the stage of planning. Many interviewees hope to break the zone restrictions. The cooperation between the central government and local government can expedite the development of Aerotropolis. Three towns, Dayuan, Chungli, and Luzhu, have great advantage of convenient transportation to develop tourism. There are highways, provincial highways, high speed rail, and railroad distributed. Taoyuan International Airport is located in Dayuan. It’s very easy to access to these three towns for domestic and foreign tourists. Besides, they also own enriched ecological resource and culture heritage. However, they don’t have enough and famous scenic spots. These three towns also lack of accommodation. Taoyuan Aerotropolis will bring in lots of visitors in the future. Dayuan, Chungli, and Luzhu have to develop their own distinctive features and link with each other.
