The director is the creator of the film content, while the photographer is the creator of the images in the film. "Liao Pen- Jung " is one of most productive photographers in Taiwan. He started as an photograph assistant in Central Pictures Corporation in 1974. His diligence and his self-pursuit of further learning, made him being promoted to a photographer when he was only 28 years old rise. He was thus rated as the youngest photographer at that time. "Liao Pen Jung" has worked in the movie industry for more than 40 years. With the principle of "Learning while working", he has received two Golden Horse Awards for " Best Cinematography " and " The Outstanding Taiwanese Film Maker of the Year" in 2003, and further received "Best Cinematography" in Asia Film Awards in 2008. In addition to serving as a photographer, Liao Pen Jung also teaches photograph technique and shares his experiences to the younger generation. He has served as the 41th, 44th and 47th judge for the Golden Horse Awards. In 2008 and 2009, He also participated in the art film "Face" for French Louvre movie collection of the century. His superb presentation of art photography won international praise. Director Tsai Ming Liang said, ‘Usually, I was relieved when Mr. Liao came. When the frames were created, the foreigners were shocked and surprised at such high level of technique. This documentary film, through interviews, shots from the side, movie parts, and etc., is a compilation and record of Liao’s background, experiences, written words and images. The goal of this documentary is to allow more people to know Taiwanese film worker, the "photographer", Liao Pen-Jung, his esthetics of photography and the course of how he learned and grew. Expressing through image creations, this film also hopes to lead the audience to understand and imagine the 40 years of a cinematographer’s career. It also hopes to present Liao’s works with the angle and thoughts shared by the audience and to move the audience by uniquely presenting the movements and the non-movements.
