China, with its immeasurable power in economic growth that supports its rising in the international stage, was labeled as a big power since its intactness in financial crisis in 2008. With highly increasing demands in imports, how to map out a good energy strategy to assure steady and safe access of oil and gas acquirements has become an issue of great urgency.
In order to create a secure environment for the resources, China tries every effort to find new sources with diplomatic measures externally, and fortifies strategic reserves internally to meet its needs. In the process, oil pipe that connects inside and outside the country has thus been an indispensable joint in energy security. While taking advantage of its geographical nature which helps in gaining stable oil through land and sea, China sits on thorns with marine transit due to factors such as US global military deployment and hazardous situation in the Malacca Strait, putting threats from time to time. To get rid of crises caused from heavy dependence on the Middle Easter nations and obtain safe oil transportation, China has no choice but to consider oil resources in central Asia and Russia, which could be significant strategic bases for its outward development in the future if in good hands.
