Three times of energy transformation from wind energy to electricity reduce the capture of the wind energy for wind generators. A wind power-compressed air storage system increases the capture of the wind energy by reducing the times of energy transformations. However, few articles gave attention to the patent analysis about the system. This research studied the patent citation analysis of the wind power-compressed air storage systems, including the patent bibliomatrics, patent citation and technology function matrix of patents about the wind power-compressed air storage system. From the patent bibliomatrics analysis, some patents about the system were notified since the first was approved in 1909. Most of the patents were approved after 1998. Besides, most of the assignees of the patents are U.S. corporations according the analysis about inventors and assignees. For the present, the wind power-compressed air storage technology is in the beginning. The study analyzed patent citation and technology function matrix about the patents of the technology. The wind energy industry could get much benefit from the trends of technology shown in the patent citation analysis.
